Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Immaculata men's tennis team opened its season on the road on Sunday afternoon against perennial-power Moravian. Immaculata fell to Moravian by a final of 9-0.
In doubles action,
Jason Watts and
Michael Chartier teamed up to compete in first doubles while Joe Craner and
Matt DeHaut paired for second doubles, each of these tandems competed well throughout the afternoon but fell 8-0 to give the Greyhounds an early 2-0 advantage. In the third doubles spot, Nick John and
Jeremy Brown paired as the final combo for Immaculata falling 8-0 in their match to conclude doubles play for the Macs.
In first singles play, Watts played well in his collegiate debut taking his foe to a third set after splitting the first two sets by score of 6-1 and 2-6. Moravian closed out the third match in the third set winning the final set by a 6-4 margin to win the first singles spot 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Chartier played in the second singles spot for the Macs dropping his match 6-0, 6-0 while Craner played in the third spot falling 6-0, 6-0 in his match as well. DeHaut was the fourth singles position for the Macs falling 6-0, 6-1 while John fell 6-1, 6-0 in fifth singles play.
Kevin Lyons rounded out the Macs contingent in the sixth singles spot falling to his foe 6-1, 6-0 in the season opening setback.
Immaculata will return to action on Saturday afternoon at Lancaster Bible in its final non-conference match of the year before opening Atlantic East play in April.
