Macs Honor McCullough in Season Opener Vs. Keystone

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata men's basketball team kicked off their season by defeating Keystone 92-71 on Friday night. Prior to the start of the match, senior Brandon McCullough was presented a commemorative basketball in honor of reaching 1,000 points on his collegiate career in 2020.
 
The Mighty Macs jumped to an early 17-10 lead over the Giants with Tyler Tillery and Gregory Vlassopoulos recording five points each early on. The Mighty Macs then went on a 21-13 point run to increase their lead to 38-23. Andre Allen dropped four straight three-pointers for the Macs to increase the lead.
 
At the half, Immaculata owned a 48-34 lead over Keystone. On the half, Immaculata shot a 47.4% field goal percentage and shot 44.4% from the beyond the arc. Allen led Immaculata on the half with 14 points while Tillery and Vlassopoulos each recorded nine points.
 
The Macs started out the second half on a 21-10 run led by Brandon McCullough, who recorded seven points. The run would give the Macs a 69-44 lead, their largest of the night. The Giants began to fight their way back into the match, going 27-23 against the Macs the rest of the way. Junior Keith Farmer, however, prevented the Giants from gaining ground, scoring 14 points in the remainder of the contest.
 
Farmer led the Mighty Macs offensively and defensively on the night, earning 20 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Allen had a stellar night from beyond the arc, shooting four consecutive three-points while going 4-for-5 on the night.
 
Tone Cockrell had a strong night to lead the Giants, scoring 28 points and recording seven assists.
 
Immaculata's depth was on display as the Immaculata bench outshot Keystone's bench 25-8 on the night. Overall, the Macs shot 37-for-74 from the field and 36.7% from beyond the arc.
 
The Mighty Macs will return to action next on Sunday as they travel to Reading for a matchup against Albright.
