IMMACULATA, Pa. – While the rain threatened, the Immaculata men's soccer celebrated their senior class unabated as they defeated Gwynedd Mercy 8-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Despite a pre-game rain cell over the area, the sky was clear as they Mighty Macs honored the 2021 senior class. The Macs honored seniors
Jacob Fitzgerald,
Zachary Malcolm,
Stephen Bradley,
Michael Smith, and graduate student
Chad Catalana for their hard work and dedication over their collegiate careers both on and off the field.
The match began with a quiet first 30 minutes before the Mighty Macs began to strike. First,
Matthew Kirkpatrick scored his first collegiate goal on an assist from
Reed Lindsay in the 33
rd minute. Three minutes later,
Oldy Dielce scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season thanks to an assist from
John Bohrer. Dielce then picked up an assist in the 39
th minute as Lindsay scored his third goal of the season. Not even 90 seconds later,
Enrique Hernandez-Kurst scored his first collegiate goal to increase Immaculata's lead to 4-0.
On a day where the Macs honored the senior class,
Jacob Fitzgerald was not going to let the underclassmen have all the fun. Fitzgerald scored in the 44
th minute on Bohrer's second assist of the day to give the Macs the 5-0 lead heading into halftime. At the half, Immaculata outshot Gwynedd Mercy 14-1.
The freshmen contingent of
Anthony Mastro,
Phillip Lyons, and
Dylan Roberts highlighted the second half for Immaculata. Mastro scored first in the 52
nd minute on an assist from Lyons. He then returned the favor, assisting Lyons in the 64
th minute. Roberts then scored unassisted in the 71
st minute to close out an 8-0 victory.
On the day, the Mighty Macs outshot the Griffins 27-1.
The Mighty Macs conclude their Atlantic East regular season schedule with a 4-2 record overall. They will return to action for their final regular season game against Susquehanna at Draper Walsh Stadium on Wednesday at 6:30 P.M.
