Baseball Scores Six Runs in Ninth Inning to beat North Central 13-11

FORT PIERCE, Fl.- The Mighty Macs scored 11 runs over the final three innings, including sixth in the ninth to comeback and beat North Central University 13-11 on Monday afternoon. The Mighty Macs (5-4) remain perfect on the spring trip and picked up 14 hits in the win.

Peter Zielinski and Matthew Headley clubbed home runs off the bench and sparked the offensive explosion for Immaculata. The duo combined to go 4-for-6 with four RBI's while Trevor Wagner tallied three RBI's. Domenic Dellabarba tallied three hits and drove in a pair of runs while Joey Wright and Stephen Trendler picked up two hits and drove in one.

Jason Krull did it all for the Rams (0-2), throwing two scoreless innings in relief and went 3-for-3 with three RBI's for the Rams.

North Central got on the board in the first inning when Rene Brockman hit a solo homerun with two outs, putting the Rams up 1-0 after the first.

The Mighty Macs used a two-out rally in the top half of the second to even up the score. Isaiah Payton drew a walk and swiped second to put a runner in scoring position for Joey Wright. Wright delivered a double to bring in Payton but was stranded to end the frame.

North Central wouldn't allow starter Timmy Newell to escape the second inning, using three hits and a pair of errors by the Mighty Macs to score four runs, giving the Rams a 5-1 lead. North Central extended its lead to 8-1 in the fourth inning with more two-out magic. After Luis Flores retired the first two batters, the Rams drew a free pass and followed with three straight hits to plate three runs.

The bench provided a spark for Immaculata and cut into the deficit. Zielinski bopped a solo homerun in the sixth inning while Headley hit his first homerun of his career and plated Trevor Wagner to make it 8-4 heading to the bottom of the seventh.

Brockman continued his damage against Immaculata in the bottom half of the inning and registered another extra base hit with an RBI double. Steven DeSilva hit the Rams' fourth double of the afternoon brining in another run to make it 10-4 after seven innings.

Immaculata continued to fight and scored three runs on four hits in the eighth to make it 10-7 heading to the ninth. Domenic Dellabarba picked up an RBI single while Trevor Wagner brought in two runs on a fielder's choice to cut into the Rams' lead.

North Central tacked on an insurance run in the eighth, but the Mighty Macs would come roaring back with six runs on three hits in the final inning. Tim Dougherty Jr. doubled in a run and Dellabarba brought in another run on a a single, making it 11-9 in favor of the Rams. Immaculata benefited from wild pitching from North Central to tie up the game, as the Mighty Macs evened up the game at 11 by scoring a pair of runs on wild pitches. Immaculata would take the lead off an RBI groundout by Trevor Wagner, while the Mighty Macs used a big insurance run off an RBI double by Zielinski.

With the Macs holding a 13-11 win heading into the ninth, the Macs went to Anthony Yarson, who found himself in early trouble. Trevor Wagner recorded three straight punchouts to strand the tying runs on second and third to earn his first save. Pierce Rucci earned the win with 1.1 innings of relief and struck out two.

Immaculata looks to extend its unbeaten spring break on Tuesday with a 10 a.m. matchup with Kenyon.
