MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Immaculata softball team ran its winning streak to seven games in a row on Wednesday evening with a 2-1 victory over Eureka College to improve to 2-0 on the day.
Eureka got the scoring started in the second inning with a solo home run to center field to claim the early 1-0 lead.
In the top of the fifth,
Cat Knoll responded with an RBI double, which scored
Elena Anglani to even the score at 1-1.
Immaculata claimed its first lead of the contest during the bottom of the sixth inning when
Emily Mesey laced a single into left field to score
Sara Rode who had tripled to center earlier in the inning. This RBI single gave the Macs a 2-1 lead, which would prove to be the only lead the team would need in the 2-1 victory on Wednesday evening.
Renee DeAngelis went the distance in the circle scattering just four hits and one run while also striking out one to improve to an impressive 4-0 on the young season.
Immaculata will be back in action tomorrow afternoon for its final two games in Myrtle Beach against Clarks Summit and Albertus Magnus beginning at 1:30 and 3:30, respectively.
