Men's Basketball Falters at Wesley

DOVER, DE.- The Mighty Macs men's basketball team fell 83-71 against Wesley on the road Saturday evening. Immaculata falls to 8-13 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Jordan Ambrose continues to anchor the Mighty Macs and scored 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Ambrose hit four of the team's five three pointers in the game as Tyler Tillery registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon McCullough added 12 points and three assists in the setback.

Three players registered double-doubles for Wesley (14-8,8-1) and was lead by Brian Cameron with 27 points and 15 rebounds.

Both teams opened up trading baskets while the score was deadlocked at 10 with 15:40 left in the first half. Cameron sparked the Wolverines offense and poured in seven consecutive points for a 17-11 lead at the 13-minute mark.

The Mighty Macs would trim the lead to three at the midway point of the first half following a three by Ambrose, but that is as close as Immaculata would keep it in first half with the Wolverines leading 43-36 at intermission.

Immaculata out shot Wesley 48-42 percent after the opening 20 minutes but the Wolverines shot 75-percent from the free throw heading into the half.

The Mighty Macs cut into the Wolverines lead in the first few minutes of the second half as Jake Strycharz connected on a three to make it 49-44 with 18:09 left in the game. Wesley responded with an 11-2 run to take a commanding 60-46 lead at the 12-minute mark.

The Wolverines held the double-digit lead throughout the game and lead by as much as 18 in the game. Wesley went 6-of-14 from three in the second half to hold on for the win.

Immaculata couldn't force the Wolverines into miscues and only committed four turnovers in the contest. The Mighty Macs struggled at the charity stripe and made 14-of-28 attempts.

Immaculata returns home to Alumnae Hall on Wednesday to face Neumann at 8 p.m.
