Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Kennedy Scores 200th Goal as Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Rosemont in Non-Conference Victory

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Senior Layne Kennedy, further etched her name into Immaculata lore this afternoon as the senior registered six goals including her 200th career goal this afternoon as the Mighty Macs rolled to a 21-0 non-league victory over the Rosemont College Ravens on a frigid February afternoon.

"The girls played really hard today," opened Head Coach George Dick. "The team has been working hard for five weeks so it is great to get a victory today and see some benefit for the team."

Kennedy, became the first Mighty Mac in program history just five minutes into the first half of play notching a pair of goals in the opening five minutes to eclipse the 200-goal plateau and help the Macs jump out to an early 2-0 advantage.

"It was awesome to see Layne reach this milestone today and become the first player in school history to do so," explained Dick when asked about Kennedy's 200th career goal. "She works so hard everyday and is a great leader for the team both on and off the field so to see her accomplish something like this is very exciting" concluded Dick.
Kennedy would score six goals in the opening half to help Immaculata jump out to a 12-0 lead in the first half of play.

Anna DiDonato also found the back of the net in the opening 30 minutes of action while contributing three assists along the way. Maura Murray added a pair of goals while Kayla Cadden, Vanessa Diaz, and Nana Huang all added goals of their own to help the Mighty Macs race out to the early 12-0 advantage after the first 30 minutes of action on a frigid day inside Draper Walsh Stadium.

In the second half of play, Immaculata continued its offensive onslaught of the Ravens as the Macs scored nine more goals to set a new program record for the largest margin of victory as the hosts went on to win by a final of 21-0.

Murray contributed two more goals in the second half while Ashley Hankin found the back of the net three times to go along with single goals from Cadden, DiDonato, Erynn Kriebel, and Katie Mulvey as the Macs cruised to the 21-0 victory.

Emily Schumann had a relatively quiet day between the pipes for Immaculata making just one save to earn the shutout, which is the fourth shutout the Macs have recorded in team history.

Immaculata dominated possession for much of the day as the Macs outshot their guests 40-3 while also ending the game with a 33-10 edge in ground balls and a 17-6 advantage in draw controls. Additionally, Immaculata was a perfect 12-of-12 on clear attempts while also forcing the Ravens into 28 turnovers en route to the victory.

Immaculata will be back in action on Monday afternoon at Swarthmore top open the month of March with that contest set to begin at 7 p.m.
