GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's tennis team maintained its perfect Atlantic East record with a 5-4 road victory over defending champion Gwynedd Mercy Monday afternoon, marking the Macs' fourth-straight match win. Despite dropping two of the three doubles matches, the Macs rebounded to rack up four singles victories from
Caleigh Masterman,
Susan Callahan,
Elizabeth Lipscomb and
Jessica Dougherty to overcome the early deficit.
DOUBLES RESULTS
-Masterman and
Morgan Jacob suffered a rare defeat at first singles, 8-5.
-Callahan and
Caitlin Savage also suffered a setback at second singles, 8-2.
-Lipscomb and Dougherty were able to salvage the lone win in doubles play for the Macs, taking the third match, 8-2.
SINGLES RESULTS
-Masterman posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory at first-singles.
-Callahan put together a hard-fought match at second singles, coming away with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
-Both Jacob and Savage forced tiebreakers in their respective matches but were narrowly defeated.
-Lipscomb and Dougherty both did not give up a game at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, to take the final two matches of the afternoon.
