Second Half Outburst Gives Macs Atlantic East Win On Senior Day

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Mighty Mac women's lacrosse team (4-7, 1-2 Atlantic East) broke open a three-goal game at halftime with 10 second half tallies and defeated Wesley on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium, 18-9, for their first-ever Atlantic East Conference victory.
 
Prior to the game, the Macs recognized their four seniors, Ashley DeLaRosa, Sarah Frick, Bailey Krewson, and Jackie Wood.
 
Junior Layne Kennedy reached a big milestone, getting the 200th point of her career becoming the fifth Mighty Mac to reach the mark.  Sophomore Maura Murray and senior Bailey Krewson each had eight points while Kennedy added four goals and junior Anna DiDonato scored three times.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Wolverines got the scoring started, but the Macs bounced back with a pair of goals from Murray to quickly erase that early deficit
-Wesley tied it at two, and following a goal by junior Kayla Cadden, the Wolverines knotted it at 3-3 midway through the half
-The Mighty Macs then ripped off five in a row to take a commanding 8-3 advantage.  DiDonato scored twice and Kennedy did the same, including the 200th point of her career.  Krewson polished off the first half scoring for IU
-Wesley scored the final two goals of the half to bring it to 8-5 at the break
-Murray scored out of halftime for her third of the day, but the Wolverines cut the deficit to two at 9-7 with 25:48 remaining
-The decisive part of the game came in the middle 17 minutes of the second half when the Macs scored eight times and kept the Wolverines off the scoreboard.  Murray scored twice, Kennedy scored twice, and Krewson scored twice while DiDonato and Cadden each scored once to put the game away
 
TEAM COMPARISON
-IU held the advantage in shots, 40-25, and forced nine turnovers on Wesley clears
-In total, the Macs forced 26 turnovers, giving it up just 18 times
