SELINSGROVE, Pa.-The Mighty Mac women's lacrosse team (6-9) dropped their final non-conference game ahead of Thursday's Atlantic East finale at Susquehanna on Tuesday afternoon, 13-8. The Mighty Macs will head to Cabrini on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.
Senior
Bailey Krewson scored four times and junior
Layne Kennedy scored twice.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-After the teams traded goals early, Susquehanna scored four straight to take a 5-1 advantage around the midway point of the first half
-Kennedy scored her 55
th and 56
th goals of the season to trim the deficit to 5-3 before Susquehanna scored the final three goals of the period to make it 8-3 at the break
-The Mighty Macs couldn't have gotten a better start to the second half as Krewson scored twice and sophomore
Maura Murray got on the board to get the Macs within two at 8-6 five minutes into the second half
-Susquehanna then responded with three of their own before Krewson halted the run with the Macs trailing 11-7 midway through the second half
-The scoring then slowed significantly as only three goals were scored the rest of the way in a 13-8 IU loss
TEAM COMPARISON
-Susquehanna led in shots, 37-26, and a slimmer, 25-22, edge in shots on goal
-Both teams had 23 groundballs and the Macs turned it over 25 times to 23 for Susquehanna
