GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- The Mighty Mac softball team (10-3-1, 1-1 Atlantic East) played their first Atlantic East doubleheader of the season on Saturday afternoon at Gwynedd Mercy (7-13, 1-1) and split with the Griffins with a 7-4 loss in the game one and an 8-2 victory in game two.
 
The Macs piled up 15 hits in game one, but couldn't take advantage of it as the Griffins scored four sixth inning runs to take the lead.  In the second game, sophomore Emma Bischoff went the distance and sophomore Keani Hindle hit a pair of triples to win the nightcap.  Junior Emily Mesey also reached the 100-hit mark for her career with three hits in the opener.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
-In the second inning, junior Abigail Carter hit an RBI single to score junior Michaela Petito, but the Griffins scored two in their half of the second off of Petito to take a 2-1 lead
-After a scoreless third inning, the Macs scored a pair to take the lead.  Junior Ashley Rey hit a sacrifice fly and Hindle followed with an RBI single to put them up 3-2, but again, Gwynedd came back with a run in the fourth to tie it 3-3
-After a scoreless fifth, an RBI single by Rey put the Macs back in front, 4-3.  The bottom of the sixth was decisive as the Griffins plated four, which was the difference in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 2
-The Macs quickly blew open the game in the second inning with a seven run frame to take the lead.  Bischoff helped her cause with an RBI single after an RBI double by sophomore Paige Gerst.  Bischoff scored on a wild pitch, Carter had an RBI single and Rey hit a two-run double to run the lead up to 6-0.  A Hindle triple polished off the scoring
-The Griffins put single runs up in the third and fourth, but a sacrifice fly by Hindle made it 8-2 through four which is where the score would end
