HOW IT HAPPENED
-Alvernia was first on the board in Thursday's opener via a one-out RBI double, but the Macs answered back in a big way in the home half of the frame with a six-spot to take their first lead of the day.
Katy Newton drew a one-out walk and
Ashley Rey singled to left before
Keani Hindle reached on an error to load the bases with one out.
Emily Mesey tied the game with an RBI groundout before a failed pickoff play plated Rey with the second run of the frame.
Cat Knoll then ripped a base hit back through the middle to score a pair before Abby Carter capped off the inning with a two-run single to center.
-The Macs were held scoreless over the next four frames, allowing the Golden Wolves to get within one by posting a four-run third.
-The Macs then turned to
Sarah Guido in relief who was very efficient to hold Alvernia to two hits over four scoreless innings as IU clung to a one-run lead in the late innings.
-Carter lined a one-out double down the left field line to start the home half of the sixth, and Newton reached on an infield single and stole second to put two in scoring position for Hindle. The sophomore shortstop delivered in a big way, lofting a deep drive to left over the fence for a three-run home run - her second of the season - to extend the Might Mac lead to four.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Golden Wolves opened the scoring again in Thursday's nightcap with two runs in the top of the first. Rey drove a one-out triple off the fence in right to score Newton before Hindle drove in Rey with a single through the left side.
-Bischoff kept the Alvernia off-balance from that point on, posting 1-2-3 innings in the second, fourth and fifth to keep the two sides knotted at two apiece. The sophomore hurler also stranded two in scoring position in the third after issuing a leadoff walk.
-Hindle led off the bottom of the fourth with a lined shot over the fence in left-center to put the Macs ahead 3-2, but Alvernia was able to plate the tying run in the top of the seventh on an infield miscue.
-The Macs were able to get the winning run to second in bottom of the seventh when
Sydney Sturgill lined a two-strike single to right to move Hindle up to second, but Alvernia escaped the jam on a flyout and the game as called due to darkness.
