Kennedy Ties School Record In Road Win

ST. DAVID'S, Pa.- The Mighty Mac women's lacrosse team (3-4) used a run to take control of the game midway through and then put Eastern away on Wednesday afternoon in a 17-7 road victory.

Junior Layne Kennedy had a huge game with eight goals and sophomore Maura Murray had eight points on five goals and three assists.  The eight goals for Kennedy tie a school record that has been accomplished eight other times.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Murray got the scoring started and the Eagles tied it less than a minute later before Murray, junior Kayla Cadden, and senior Bailey Krewson scored in succession to put the Macs in front 4-1 just over 10 minutes into the contest
-The teams each scored two goals apiece over the next 12 minutes, Krewson and Murray providing the IU tallies, to put the Mighty Mac lead at 6-3
-Murray and Kennedy scored to close out the first half and the Macs led 8-3 going to the second period
-Murray and Kennedy duplicated their feat to start the second half to extend the advantage to 10-3, but Eastern would score four of the next six goals to cut the IU lead to 12-7 with 14:51 remaining
-From there, the Macs kept Eastern off the scoreboard and scored five straight, powered by Kennedy's effort to close out the game at 17-7.
