Mighty Macs Contained by Cabrini in Home Finale

IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's basketball team closed out its 2018-19 home schedule against the Atlantic East Conference leading Cabrini Cavaliers Saturday afternoon in Alumnae Hall, falling 80-59. The Mighty Macs were unable to draw even with the Cavaliers despite outscoring the visitors 44-37 in the second half.

Seniors Amber Ballinger and Bailey Krewson were honored for their contributions to the program prior to their final game in Alumnae Hall, and finished the afternoon with seven and five points, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Krewson netted the first five points of the game for the Macs to give IU an early advantage, a lead that would extend up until the six-minute mark of the first quarter. -Cabrini would go on to end the first quarter on a 14-5 run to take a seven-point advantage over the Macs, and carried that momentum into the second with a 23-2 run to take a double-digit lead into halftime.
-The Mighty Macs rebounded with a big offensive third quarter, but were matched stride-for-stride by the Cavaliers as both sides put up 24 points. Natalie Ayoub netted seven of her team-high 11 points in the third frame alone.
-Despite outscoring the Cavaliers 20-13 in the fourth quarter, the Macs were unable to cut into the late deficit as Cabrini kept its record in Atlantic East play unblemished.
