Mighty Macs' Atlantic East Tournament Run Halted at Top-Seeded Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. - Three days after the Immaculata University women's basketball team picked up the program's first postseason victory in four seasons, the Mighty Macs fell short in their attempt to keep their Atlantic East Tournament Championship hopes alive Thursday night at Marymount (21-5), falling to the top-seeded Saints, 56-35.

Brielle Rigo recorded a team-high 11 points against a potent Marymount defense in the effort, while Amber Ballinger led the Macs with eight rebounds in her final collegiate game.

The Mighty Macs finish the season with an 8-19 overall record and as the semifinalists of the inaugural Atlantic East Conference Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-IU was able to stay within reach of the Saints in the first four minutes of the second quarter thanks to a pair of Rigo field goals, but Marymount went on to outscore the Macs 19-8 in the frame to go up by double-figures at halftime.
-Despite picking up their offensive efficiency in the second half - shooting 33.3 percent from the field and outscoring the Saints in the fourth quarter - the Macs were unable to cut deep enough into the deficit, dropping the Atlantic East Tournament Semifinal, 56-35
