Field Hockey Falls to Cabrini in Atlantic East Quarterfinals

RADNOR, Pa.- Looking to advance back to the Conference semifinals for the first time since the 2017 season, the Immaculata University field hockey team took to the road on Saturday afternoon to square off against a talented Cabrini team. Despite holding a lead heading to the halftime break, Immaculata fell by a final score of 3-2 due to a strong offensive surge in the second half by the host Cavaliers.

How it Happened:
  • After a scoreless first quarter of play, senior Layne Kennedy continued her strong stretch of play converting a centering pass from Macy Green into a goal to give the Macs a 1-0 lead during the 23rd minute of play. Thanks to a strong defensive effort from the Mighty Macs this tally stood as the lone goal in the first half of play to take the contest to the break with the Macs leading 1-0.
  • In the third quarter, Cabrini evened the score at 1-1 before adding another goal early in the fourth to claim a 2-1 lead.
  • In the 54th minute, Macy Green scored a goal of her own off an assist from Willa Thompson to even the score at 2-2.
  • In the closing seconds of regulation, Cabrini netted the goal it was looking for to earn the 3-2 comeback victory over Immaculata.
  • Randie Kuhar worked hard in goal throughout the afternoon making four big saves while her Cabrini counterpart made eight nice stops of her own.
Inside the Box Score:
  • Cabrini ended the contest with a 14-12 edge in shots, however, Immaculata ended the game with a 10-7 edge in shots on goal.
  • Cabrini also ended the contest with a narrow 9-6 edge in penalty corners.
  • Kennedy will end her career fourth in program history in points with 54 points while finishing in a tie for third in program history in goals with 25 after her first half goal earlier this afternoon.
  • Colleen Bradley also ends her career fourth in program history in assists with 15 assists over the course of her four-year career as a Mighty Mac.
