DALLAS, Pa.-In its second match of the afternoon, the Immaculata University women's volleyball team squared off against Alfred University. In need of a victory, the Mighty Macs earned the win they were searching for in a five-set thriller over Alfred by a final of 3-2 (21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 15-8).
How it Happened:
- In the first set, Immaculata and Alfred traded points before a mid-set run from Alfred gave the Saxons first set by a final of 25-21.
- From this point, Immaculata answered back with a pair of hard-fought victories in the second and third set (25-23 and 25-20) to head to the fourth set with a 2-1 lead in the match.
- In the fourth set desperate to avoid a loss, Alfred answered back with a 25-20 set victory of its own, thus, forcing a decisive fifth set.
- In the fifth set, Alfred jumped out to an early lead before Immaculata stormed back and closed the match on a 7-1 run to record the 15-8 fifth set victory and 3-2 match victory.
Inside the Box Score:
- As a team, Immaculata ended the match with a .137 hitting percentage, highlighted by a .412 hitting performance in the fifth set.
- Natalie Dependahl and Jade Rindock each registered 15 kills in the victory while Megan Daugherty recorded 40 assists to lead the Mighty Macs.
- Sara Desmond turned in a strong defensive performance ending the match with 27 digs while Aly Lowe ended the match with 19 digs of her own.
