IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's basketball team could not overcome a double-figure first half deficit to visiting Marymount (12-4, 3-0 Atlantic East) Wednesday night in Alumnae Hall, dropping the Atlantic East Conference matchup, 64-40.
Theresa Kearney was the lone Mighty Mac to reach double figures in scoring with a team-high 11 points and five rebounds.
Amber Ballinger added five assists and five steals in the effort for the Macs (4-12, 1-2 Atlantic East).
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Marymount raced out to an early 8-2 run the start Wednesday night's matchup before Kearney and
Brielle Rigo were able to cut the deficit down to four at the six-minute mark of the first quarter.
-The Saints responded right back with a 12-3 run to take a 12-point lead into the second quarter.
-The Mighty Macs struggled to get into a rhythm offensively in the final ten minutes of the opening half, leading to a 16-point deficit at the break.
-Despite Kearney scoring nine of her 11 points in the second half alone, the Macs were unable to cut any deeper into the deficit as the Saints outscored IU, 28-20, in the final half.
TEAM COMPARISON
-The Saints finished the night shooting 25-of-56 (44.6%) from the floor, while the Macs were 16-of-51 (31.4%).
-Marymount controlled the battle on the boards, 42-26.
-The Mighty Macs caused 20 turnovers in the matchup while committing 24 of their own. The Saints scored 23 points off turnovers opposite the Macs' 12 on their opportunities
