Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Ambrose, McCullough Power Macs to Third-Straight Victory

IMMACULATA, Pa. - Sophomore Brandon McCullough posted a career-high 27 points and junior Jordan Ambrose added a season-best and team-high 29 points to lift the Immaculata University men's basketball team to its third-straight victory - and second-straight Atlantic East Conference win - over Wesley Saturday, 81-67. The Mighty Macs battled through early foul trouble Saturday afternoon, but overcame those woes with a staggering 50.8 percent (32-63) shooting day from the field to lead the entire game from start to finish.

Ambrose also led the Macs with six rebounds and four steals in the effort.

The win moves the Macs one game above .500 in Atlantic East play with five games remaining on the schedule.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs opened the game on a 7-2 run to take control early, but Wesley battled back to stay stride-for-stride over the first five minutes of the contest. McCullough and Ambrose then combined to score the next nine IU points to stretch the lead back out to seven at 14-7.
-Wesley continued to hang tough and got back within a point at the 8:50 mark of the half, but IU responded with a 14-7 run over the next seven-plus minutes to take a five-point lead into the break.
-McCullough netted 16 of his career-high 27 in the second half alone, while Ambrose poured in 18 of his 29 in the final 20 minutes as well. The Wolverines got as close at two points down at the 16:48 mark of the second half, but were unable to draw even with the Macs the rest of the way as IU hovered around a double-figure lead for the final nine minutes of regulation.
