IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's volleyball team struggled to overcome a slow start in Wednesday night's match against visiting DeSales, falling 3-0 in the non-conference matchup. Libero Sara Desmond led the Macs with 17 digs in the effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-DeSales jumped out to an early 4-2 lead in the opening set, but the Macs responded with three straight points - including a Passalacqua kill and a pair of Bulldog attack errors - to take their first lead of the game since scoring the game's first point.
-From then on, it was all DeSales as the Bulldogs strung together runs of 6-0 and 8-0 to come away with the first set, 25-9.
-After faltering in the second set, the Macs looked to stake a comeback in their final chance. Despite falling behind 7-2 in the early stages of the third set, IU clawed back to within three, but the Macs were not able to get within five points from that point on, dropping the third and final set, 25-15.

Immaculata (2-6) faces an eight-day layoff before opening play in the Knight Classic hosted by Arcadia University on Friday night. The Macs open with Scranton Friday night, followed by a matchup with Valley Forge Saturday morning to cap the weekend.
