Mighty Macs Taken Down by Manhattanville

IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's volleyball team was unable to battle back from a hard-fought, first set loss Friday night against Manhattanville, falling to the visiting Valiants, 3-0.

Natalie Dependahl paced the Mighty Macs with 11 digs and Madi Curley assisted on a team-high nine points in the effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Immaculata and Manhattanville were locked into a tight first set to start the match as neither team was able to pull away with a commanding lead. The Valiants led by as much as four in the middle stages of the set, but the Macs rallied to draw even at 19 on consecutive kills by Olivia Zdradzinski and Shelby Belk.
-Manhattanville took control of the set with a 3-0 run, but Natalie Dependahl's ace broke the streak. However, the Valiants put together another three consecutive points to take the set, 25-20.
-The Valiants went on to take the second set, 25-14, as the Macs struggled to get in a rhythm after opening the set with a 3-1 advantage.
-The Mighty Macs battled back in their final chance in the third set as the hosts were within a point in the early stages. IU pieced together three different 3-0 runs at different parts of the set, but the Manhattanville attack was too much in the end as the Valiants took the set, 25-17, and the match, 3-0.

TEAM COMPARISON
-The Valiants held the advantage in kills, 32-21.
-Each side finished the night with three service aces.
-The Macs registered five blocks in the match, opposite Manhattanville's three.
-Manhattanville led the match in digs, 74-59.
