RADNOR, Pa. - Senior right-hander
Eddie Decker turned in one of his best outings of the season Wednesday afternoon to lead the Immaculata University baseball team to a season split with Cabrini, 5-1. Decker threw seven innings of one-run ball while scattering seven hits and striking out six en route to his third win of the season.
Justin Dempsey had two hits including a run-scoring triple in the top of the first, while Richard Fontanillas, Greg Dahl and Pat Devnney all also drove in a run for the Macs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The IU lineup went to work early Wednesday afternoon, as
Justin Dempsey lined a one-out triple down the right field line to score
Tyler Kmiec with the game's first run. Later in the inning with two outs and Dempsey at third, Greg Dahl picked up a two-out RBI with a single back through the middle to give the Macs a 2-0 lead.
-Cabrini went on to cut the deficit in half with a run-scoring ground out in the fourth, but the Macs came right back with a run of their own in the top of the fifth on a Richard Fontanillas double to left center to score
Tristan Ryan who reached via a walk earlier in the frame.
-The Macs stretched their lead out to three in the top of the seventh when
Chris Szekeres led off with a double to right center and came around to score on an error. Decker provided the shutdown inning the Macs needed in the home half by striking out the side to end his outing.

Pat Devenney provided an insurance run with a two-out, RBI single to right center to score
Brad Misialek to give IU a 5-1 advantage in the late innings.

Greg Grandelli and
Zach Smiley combined to throw two scoreless innings in relief to close it out for the Macs, allowing just one hit and striking out three over the final two frames to earn the split with Cabrini.
