Verrecchia Gets 200th Point In 17-1 Victory

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Mighty Mac women's lacrosse team (7-3) won their third consecutive game on Friday night at Draper Walsh stadium and leveled their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) record at 2-2 with a convincing 17-1 victory over Cedar Crest (0-6, 0-4 CSAC).
 
Senior Hannah Verrecchia became the fourth Mighty Mac in team history to reach 200 points with her first half goal, and she finished with four total.  Sophomore Layne Kennedy and freshman Maura Murray each scored three goals, and 10 Mighty Macs total scored goals.  Senior Rosemarie Reitman had five assists and senior Nicole Dominick had four.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Mighty Macs wasted no time deciding the outcome of this game as they scored 10 goals in the first 9:29 of the game
-Six different goal scorers put one in the net to start the game as Whaley, Reitman, Carter, Murray, Verrecchia, and Kennedy all scored with Verrecchia's being the 200th point of her career
-Verrecchia and Murray, along with two from Kennedy extended the lead to 10-0 quickly
-Verrecchia, DiDonato, and Murray all scored in the closing 20 minutes to make it 13-0 to close the first half
-Verrecchia scored her fourth of the game four minutes in before Cedar Crest got on the board two minutes later
-Dominick, Huang, and Wood closed out the scoring for the Mighty Macs
 
TEAM COMPARISON
-IU dominated with 32 shots to just two for Cedar Crest
-The Macs forced 15 turnovers on 18 Falcon clear attempts while the Macs were 5-for-5 on their efforts
