IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University baseball team powered its way past Clarks Summit to the tune of 31 runs and 32 hits in Saturday's Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader sweep by finals of 23-1 and 8-0. The seniors made the most of their Senior Day, as
Justin Dempsey was 5-for-10 with a double, four runs and three runs driven in between the two games and
Pat Devenney drove in five over the course of a three-hit game one.
Senior
Ryan Joyce scattered two hits over four and two-thirds innings without allowing an earned run to pick up his first win of the season and senior
Trevor O'Brien struck out one in relief during his first appearance on the year.
GAME ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs came out of the gates in a big way, striking for 11 runs on seven hits to open the doubleheader.
Tyler Kmiec and
Justin Dempsey got it started with run-scoring singles before Richard Fontanillas and
Cameron Delisle produced RBI doubles. Following a bases-loaded walk to
Greg Grandelli,
Pat Devenney lined a two-single back through the middle for the sixth and seventh runs of the frame. Kmiec then came up for the second time of the inning and blasted a three-run home run to left, his fifth of the season.
-Devenney picked up his third RBI of the day with an infield hit in the second before the Macs tacked on three more in the third, thanks to Fontanillas' second RBI double and Blesi's run-scoring knock to center.
-Domenic Dellabarba delivered a pinch-hit, RBI single to left in the fourth, and later came around to score on a two-run single to right off the bat of Devenney.
-Ivan Perez III came off the bench to produce a ringing RBI double to left-center to cap off the six-run fourth.
-The Macs added single runs in the fifth and sixth, as
Collin Stringham lined a single through the right side to score
Brad Misialek and Dempsey drove in his third run of game one with a double deep into the left-center gap.

GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs came out swinging hot bats again in Saturday's nightcap with four runs in the bottom of the first.
Tristan Ryan led off the home half with a double down the right field line and moved up to third on a fly out. Dempsey followed to plate the game's first run with base knock. With the bases loaded and two outs, Ty Esenwein ripped a double to left to score Dempsey and
Chris Szekeres before Greg Dahl pulled a single to left to score Esenwein with the inning's fourth run.
-IU added another run in the bottom of the third on another run-scoring single from Dahl, this time to center.
-Freshman right-hander Nick DeSantis was locked in from the beginning of his third start of the season, retiring 12 in a row after allowing a leadoff single in the top of the first. DeSantis allowed only two hits over his six-inning outing while striking out three en route to his first career win.
-The Macs added their last three runs of the day in the bottom of the eighth, as Esenwein and Dahl produced run-scoring doubles before
Zach Van Meter drove in IU's 31st run of the day with an RBI single to center to score Dahl.
-Gabe Hollenbach,
Greg Grandelli and
Zach Smiley combined to throw three scoreless innings in relief following DeSantis' departure, racking up six strikeouts to complete the sweep.
