Verrecchia Leads Six All-CSAC Honorees For Women's Lacrosse

ASTON, Pa.- The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) announced their Year End Women's Lacrosse Awards on Wednesday morning and six Mighty Macs earned recognition from the conference, as voted upon by the nine member institution head coaches.
 
Senior Hannah Verrecchia earned First Team All-CSAC, sophomore Anna DiDonato, sophomore Layne Kennedy, and senior Brittany Whaley earned Second Team All-CSAC, sophomore Molly Gallagher was named Honorable Mention All-CSAC, and senior Olivia Carter was named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
Verrecchia was named First Team All-CSAC for the third consecutive season after another outstanding campaign for IU in the midfield.  Verrecchia was everywhere for the Mighty Macs this season as she is second on the team in goals with 44, second in points with 61, third in groundballs with 35, fourth in caused turnovers with 25, and second in draw controls with 64.  She also had 17 assists playing the entire field.  She was tied for the lead in goals with 25 and points with 30 in CSAC play.  Verrecchia recently said the program record for goals in a career with 171 and needs just three more points for the most points in a career as well.
 
DiDonato earned Second Team All-CSAC in her first season with the Mighty Macs, primarily playing defense.  She had a team-high 32 caused turnovers while picking up 33 groundballs, and securing 21 draw controls.  She added 13 goals and two assists for 15 points total.
 
Kennedy was named Second Team All-CSAC after earning First Team All-CSAC and CSAC Rookie of the Year in 2017.  She leads the team in goals with 57, three shy of the single season record, and has added 12 assists for a team-high 69 points.  Her four game-winning goals are tops on the team and she tied the program record with eight goals in a game in a victory over Gwynedd Mercy.
 
Whaley made it four consecutive years of being named to an all-conference team as she earned Second Team All-CSAC for the third time (2016, 2015), and was named Honorable Mention All-CSAC in 2017.  She scored 37 goals and gave out 17 assists for 54 points, third most on the team.  She caused 30 turnovers, scooped up 36 groundballs, and led the team in draw controls with 68.  She scored two game-winning goals as well.
 
Gallagher earned her first all-conference recognition at Honorable Mention All-CSAC.  She was a foce defensively, leading the team in groundballs with 44 and causing 31 turnovers, second most on the team.  She also added two assists.
 
Carter was named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team.  She had a strong season with 13 goals, four assists, 57 draw controls, 27 groundballs, and 18 caused turnovers.
