CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa.- The Immaculata softball team (20-14, 13-5 CSAC) started their final week of regular season play with a bang as they churned out 31 hits in two games at Clarks Summit (3-29, 1-17 CSAC) and defeated the Defenders, 17-1 and 9-0.

Combined between the two games, sophomore
Ashley Rey, senior
Annemarie Bartow, and sophomore
Michaela Petito combined to go 19-for-25 with 11 runs scored and 18 runs driven in for the middle of the Mighty Mac order.

In game one, the Macs pounded out 20 hits, led by Rey's 5-for-5 day with two doubles and a home run, and a 10-run fourth inning allowed them to pull away.

In the second game, Petito and sophomore
Desiree Dinko combined for a one hit shutout over five innings.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Rey picked up where she left off on Saturday after her 8 RBI performance at Cabrini, she put the Macs on the board with an RBI double to left-center and Bartow drove her in with an RBI single to center to stake IU to a 2-0 lead
-The Defenders got on the board against Bischoff in the first after a two-out RBI double, but that would be all for scoring the rest of the way for CSU
-Sophomore
Emily Mesey extended the lead for the Macs in the second with a two-run triple and sophomore
Abigail Carter singled to left to score Mesey and make it 5-1
-An RBI single by sophomore
Moriah Hunter pushed the advantage to 6-1 before the Macs exploded in the fourth
-Rey started things with a solo home run, and Petito made it 9-1 with a two-run double to left-center. Sophomore
LeighAnn Brocious doubled home another run to put the Macs in double digits before Rey hit a two-run single and Bartow added an RBI single to balloon the lead to 13-1. Petito added another RBI single and freshman
Casey Manera hit a two-run double to right-center to punctuate the 10-run inning
-Freshman
Morgan Macrae relieved Bischoff over the final two innings with a pair of perfect frames, and Bartow added another RBI single, her fourth hit of the day, to centerfield to end the scoring

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Rey stayed hot at the plate with a two-run double to left-center field to open the scoring for IU in the first, and the lead would be safe as Petito pitched three perfect innings to open the game
-Petito did some work on offense as well with an RBI single to left field to score Bartow after a triple and IU lead 3-0 through three
-The Macs broke it open again in the fourth, this time with four runs. Bartow hit a two-run double, Petito hit an RBI double, and sophomore
Sydney Sturgill singled up the middle to score Petito and the Macs led 8-0
-Rey and Bartow added RBI knocks in the fifth, and Dinko closed the door on a 9-0 win
