Bartow Reaches 200 Hits In Sweep Of Cyclones

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.- The Immaculata softball team continued the strong start to their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) schedule as they swept a road doubleheader at Centenary, 11-1 and 7-0.  The Macs are now 9-1 in CSAC play.
 
Combined between the two games, senior Annemarie Bartow collected three hits and now has 200 in her career, the most of any Mighty Mac on record.
 
In game one, sophomore Michaela Petito tossed five innings while allowing one run, and Bartow clubbed her fourth home run of the season.  In the second game, freshman Emma Bischoff rebounded from her outing yesterday with a two-hit shutout as the Macs sealed the sweep.
 
GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs continued their offensive barrage from yesterday with six runs in the first two innings.  Freshman Keani Hindle hit an RBI single up the middle to get things going and Petito followed with a two-run single of her own to make it 3-0.  Freshman Sydney Sturgill finished off the first with an RBI single to center field and a 4-0 lead
-After Petito silenced the Cyclones in the bottom of the inning, Bartow hit a two-run home run to left field and staked IU to a 6-0 lead
-Bartow continued her strong day with an RBI double to left in the fourth and a few batters later, Sturgill hit a three-run double to left field.  Freshman Sarah Reed made it 11-0 IU with an RBI single to center
-Centenary got a run in the fourth, but the Macs finished the 11-1 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-IU grabbed control of this game in the second as they scored five runs.  A LeighAnn Brocious squeeze play scored freshman Keani Hindle for the first run, and sophomore catcher Emily Mesey hit an RBI infield single to make it 2-0.  Sophomore Ashley Rey delivered the big blow in the inning with a three-run double to center field and a 5-0 lead
-Bischoff held the Cyclones in check in the opening three innings and the Macs tacked on in the fourth
-Bartow got the milestone hit in her career, number 200, with an RBI single to left field
-Freshman Renee DeAngelis capped the scoring for IU in the sixth with an RBI single to score sophomore Sydney Sturgill and Bischoff polished off the shutout victory
