Bartow Sets CSAC Doubles Record in Macs' Split with Marywood

IMMACULATA, Pa. - A day after picking up her 200th career hit, senior Annemarie Bartow set a new Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) record with her 63rd career double - a run-scoring liner into the right-center gap during Sunday's game one - as the Immaculata University softball team split its doubleheader with Marywood.

Emily Mesey had a five-hit afternoon to lead the Macs offensively, while freshman Emma Bischoff picked up her ninth win in the circle in Sunday's nightcap, striking out five pacers in her complete-game effort.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED

-Immaculata surrendered four runs in the top of the first in Saturday's opener, largely due to two IU errors.
-The Macs were held in check by Pacer starting pitcher Kristie Alvarez, who held IU to four hits and one seventh-inning run in her complete-game effort in the circle.
-Emily Mesey picked up two hits in game one - including a leadoff double - but was ultimately stranded as Alvarez kept the Macs off the board early.
-IU broke through in the bottom of the seventh when Ashley Rey singled and came around to score on Annemarie Bartow's ringing double into the right-center gap. Bartow's two-bagger was the 63rd of her career, setting a new CSAC career record for the senior shortstop.

-Bartow: 2-3, RBI 2B in 7th (63rd Career)

GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Macs able to get on the board first in home half of the opening inning when Mesey lined a leadoff single up the middle and later came around to score on Bartow's base hit to right.
-The two sides traded scoreless frames in the second, but the Pacers managed to string together three RBI hits to score four in the top of the third to take the lead.
-Immaculata answered right back with three of its own in the bottom half to knot things at four in the middle innings. Mesey and Carter both singled back through the middle to get it started, before Bartow brought around Mesey on a hard hit ball to the left side. Keani Hindle followed with a deep sacrifice fly to center to score Carter, and Michaela Petito brought across the tying run in Bartow with a single through the left side.
-As Emma Bischoff began to really settle in in the circle - holding Marywood off the board in the final four innings - the Macs continued to execute offensively. With Hindle on second with one away in the fifth, Renee DeAngelis reached on an infield single, but a throwing error allowed Hindle to cross the plate with the go-ahead run.
-In the bottom of the sixth, the Macs plated a pair of insurance runs as Ashley Rey and Hindle belted run-scoring doubles to extend IU's lead to five.
-Bischoff went on to finish off her complete-game effort with a spotless seventh inning to pick up her team-leading ninth win of the season.
