Macs Falter in CSAC Doubleheader at Keystone

LA PLUME, Pa. - The Immaculata University baseball team saw its three-game Colonial States Athletic Conference win streak come to an end Saturday at Keystone, dropping both ends of a doubleheader, 2-0 and 10-2.

Billy Manzo put together another strong start on the mound for the Macs in game one, going the distance while allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out eight. Justin Dempsey homered in game two for IU.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED

-Manzo and Keystone's Troy Terzi were locked into a pitcher's duel from the early going Saturday afternoon. Despite allowing a leadoff home run in the top of the second, Manzo went on to limit the Giants to two hits over the next four innings.
-The Macs were equally challenged offensively, as Cameron Delisle's second-inning double stood as the only hit in the first five innings.
-The Giants tacked on its second and final run with a run-scoring single in the sixth, as the Macs mustered only two more hits the rest of the way to drop game one, 2-0. Manzo finished his outing with eight strikeouts in the effort.

GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Giant offense came to life in Saturday's nightcap, striking for five runs over the first two innings.
-IU struck back with two in the top of the fourth on the strength of a Justin Dempsey two-run homer, but Keystone answered right back with an RBI single in the home half to extend the Giants' lead to 6-2.
-Keystone put the game out of reach with three in the bottom of the fifth - including an RBI double and two-run home run - as well as a single run in the sixth to stretch the lead to eight.
-IU registered only two hits after the Dempsey homer, as Keystone held on for the 10-2 victory. Nick DeSantis tossed three innings without allowing an earned run in relief.
