Kmiec, Ryan Homer to Complete Sweep of Gwynedd, 10-4

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - The Immaculata University baseball team completed its regular season sweep of Gwynedd Mercy Thursday afternoon behind a fast offensive start and another solid outing from starting pitcher Eddie Decker, who struck out seven over six and one-third innings to pick up the win.

Sophomores Tristan Ryan and Tyler Kmiec each belted solo home runs and Chris Szekeres logged a three-hit day in the Macs' third-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) victory to improve to 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Tyler Kmiec ignited the Macs' 10-run day with a solo home run in the first inning before Justin Dempsey came around to score on an infield error to give IU a 2-0 lead before the hosts took their first hacks.
-After the Macs plated a pair of runs on an error in the second, Gwynedd got on the board with a solo home run to make it a 4-1 game.
-Richard Fontanillas led off the IU fourth with a single and moved up to third on a one-out knock from Zach Van Meter. Tristan Ryan then followed with a sacrifice fly to center to bring home Fontanillas, stretching the lead back to three.
-In the home half of the fourth, the Griffins threatened by loading the bases against Eddie Decker with no outs. The senior right-hander prevailed, coaxing a ground ball to Szekers at third who fired home for the force before inducing a crucial 6-4-3 double play to leave the bases loaded.
-The Macs rode that momentum into the fifth when Szekeres lined a one-out triple and Cameron Delisle was hit by a pitch and stole second to put both runners in scoring position with one away. Fontanillas then ripped a two-run single to extend the Macs' lead to seven in the middle innings.
-IU put together its third-consecutive two-run innings in the sixth started by Ryan's leadoff homer. After Kmiec and Dempsey both reached, Brad Misialek delivered a run-scoring double to put the Macs in complete control at 10-1.
-Gwynedd plated single runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings, but reliever Gabe Hollenbach made easy work of the Griffins in his two and two-third innings out of the bullpen, allowing an unearned run on two hits while striking out a pair.
