Macs Sweep Cairn To Open CSAC Play

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Mighty Mac softball team (6-8, 2-0 CSAC) took advantage of playing at home for the first time this year in their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener as they cruised to 10-1 and 12-0 wins over Cairn (6-4, 0-2 CSAC) on Wednesday afternoon.

In game one, junior Jessica Bormann continued to throw well, allowing just one run and sophomore Ashley Rey hit a grand slam and had five RBIs total in a CSAC opening victory.

In game two, freshman Emma Bischoff allowed just one hit while striking out four while sophomore Kayla Sponsel and senior Annemarie Bartow each hit a home run to lead the offense.

-In the second, freshman Sarah Reed hit an RBI triple, Mesey hit an RBI single to center, and Rey followed with her second hit on an RBI single up the middle to make it 6-0 through two
