Four-Game Winning Streak Snapped At Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team saw their four-game winning streak come to a close on Saturday afternoon at Marywood (3-5, 1-0 CSAC) by a score of 19-5 in their second Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game.  The Macs dropped to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the CSAC as they took their first loss since the season opener.
 
Senior Brittany Whaley scored two goals while freshman Maura Murray, sophomore Layne Kennedy, and senior Hannah Verrecchia each added one.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Marywood scored the opening three goals of the game and held the Mighty Macs off the scoreboard for over 13 minutes before Verrecchia scored from Murray to cut it to 3-1
-Marywood then ripped off the next four to take a 7-1 lead with 10 minutes remaining before the break
-The Macs rallied with the next two goals from Whaley on assists from Jamy Krewson and Reitman, but the Pacers scored one with 1:15 to go before halftime to make it 8-3
-The Macs got the opening goal of the second half 45 seconds into the period from Kennedy assisted by McNally to get within four, but that's the closest they would get as the Pacers scored the next five to run their advantage up to 13-4 with 18:44 remaining in the game
-Murray stemmed the tide briefly with her goal, but the Pacers closed the game with the final six goals to get to the final of 19-5
 
TEAM COMPARISON
-The Macs were outshot 38-15 and turned it over 26 times to just 12 for Marywood
-Marywood cleared the ball successfully on 22 of 24 attempts, IU did so on just 12 of 19 tries
-Marywood scooped up 17 groundballs to 14 for IU
