YORK, Pa. - The Immaculata University baseball team rebounded from a 13-4 loss in the opener of Sunday's doubleheader at York to earn a split with the Spartans in the nightcap in a 16-15 victory.
Tristan Ryan and
Nick Cerelli each homered and combined for half of the Macs' offensive output in the game two slugfest, while
Billy Manzo struck out seven over 6.1 innings to earn his second win of the season.
Four Macs put together multi-hit performances in game two, led by
Tyler Kmiec's three-hit day including a double and a run batted in.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs took advantage of a critical York error to strike for three, two-out runs in the top of the first. With two outs in the inning,
Tyler Kmiec reached on an error by the third basemen and came around to score on
Brad Misialek's base knock to left to open the scoring. After a
Greg Grandelli single and a walk to
Chris Szekeres,
Cameron Delisle delivered the big hit of the inning, lining a single to left-center to score two and stretch the IU advantage to three in the early going.
-York answered right back in the bottom half of the first with three of its own, thanks to a pair of doubles and an error that allowed the third run of the inning to come across.
-The Spartans plated all the runs they would need the rest of the way with three more in the bottom of the second on three hits, including a two-run double to right-center off the bat of Zach Hossler.
-York broke the game open with five in the fifth powered by the strength of a one-out, three-run homer.
-Kmiec attempted to spark a rally with a leadoff home run in the sixth, but it was the last run IU would get across the rest of the way as the Spartans tacked on single runs in the sixth and seventh to take game one, 13-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs came out swinging in game two, striking for multiple runs in each of the first five innings to hand starter
Billy Manzo all the run support he could ask for. The Macs hung a three-spot in the top of the first with a run-scoring single from Connor Blesi before Richard Fontanillas lined a two-run double to right before York could get out of the inning..
-Although York answered with two in the bottom half,
Tristan Ryan brought the lead back up to three with a three-run shot to right.
-As starter
Billy Manzo started to settle in on the mound - registering four strikeouts over the next three innings - the Macs' offense remained restless, picking up two runs in the third and three more in the fourth to make it a six-run lead. Kmiec, Fontanillas and Cerelli all contributed run-scoring singles.
-The Macs completed blew the game wide open with five in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 16-4 with only six outs left to get.
Pat Devenney roped a one-out, two-run double to right before Cerelli delivered unloaded for a three-run homer to left just two pitches later.
-York would post an 11-run inning in the last of the seventh to make it a one-run game with the tying run on third and the winning run at the plate, but Brady Fidler came out of the bullpen to strike out the only batter he faced to lock down his first save of the season.
