Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Reardon, Shultis Power Macs Past Alvernia, 15-6

READING, Pa. - Seniors Mike Reardon and Brain Shultis combined for 11 goals and 19 points to lead the Immaculata University men's lacrosse team over Alvernia Wednesday night, 15-6. The win snaps the Macs' three-game losing skid and gives them their first road win of the 2018 season.

Kyle Roche was dominant in faceoffs on the night, winning 16-of-23 attempts, while Steven Long pitched in two goals in the effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Alvernia netted the first goal of the night in the very first minute, and although Steven Long answered with the Macs' first goal of the night to tie it at one, the Golden Wolves responded to re-take the lead at the 6:13 mark of the opening quarter.
-Despite the slow start Wednesday night, it was all Immaculata from that point forward. The Macs ripped off six unanswered goals, and ended the first half on an 8-1 run to take a six-goal advantage into the break.
-The Macs had four different goal scorers over that stretch - including single tallies from Long and Ethan Johnson - but Brian Shultis did much of the heavy lifting, netting four goals in the first half alone.
-It was much of the same coming out of the intermission, as Mike Reardon found the back of the net twice within the first three minutes of the third quarter, before Shultis made it three straight to open the second half to extend the Macs' lead to nine.
-Christian Fisher beat the goalie for his fourth goal of the season with under two minutes in the third quarter, before Reardon put the game completely out of reach with his fifth and sixth goals of the game, making it a ten-goal advantage late in the fourth.
-The Macs' offensive unit was firing on all cylinders in the non-conference win, as 14 of IU's 15 goals were assisted on.

TEAM COMPARISON
-The Macs were able to get a barrage of shots off on the night, outshooting the Golden Wolves 47-16 overall and 32-8 in shots on goal. IU did not allow more than seven shots in a quarter Wednesday night.
-IU caused 24 Alvernia turnovers, while committing only 15.
-Immaculata was near perfect in its clear attempts at 11-of-13. The Macs were a perfect 6-for-6 in the first half.
-The Macs scooped up 34 ground balls opposite Alvernia's mark of 24. Tyler Black registered a game-high 11 ground balls.
