SALISBURY, Md.- The Mighty Macs (3-3) closed their spring break trip at the Sea Gull Classic by splitting their third consecutive doubleheader, this one against Salisbury University (10-4).

The Mighty Macs won game one, 6-5, on a walk-off single by junior
Jessica Bormann. The Macs were bolstered by three hit days from sophomore
Abigail Carter and freshman
Keani Hindle. Sophomore
Michaela Petito threw well over four innings, and freshman
Emma Bischoff got the second win of her career in relief.

In the second game, the Macs fell into a 4-0 hole early on and never recovered in a 5-3 defeat to the Sea Gulls.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Petito cruised through the first three innings, allowing just one baserunner on a third inning single as she kept the Sea Gulls off the board early
-Carter jumpstarted the Macs immediately as she had a bunt single, moved to second on a bunt and to third on a fly ball. Hindle hit a single through the left side with two outs to give IU the 1-0 lead
-In the second, Bormann led off with a single and came all the way around to score on a single and two-base error off the bat of sophomore
Sydney Sturgill, and Sturgill scored on a wild pitch to stake IU to a 3-0 lead
-Salisbury finally got to Petito in the fourth as a three-run home run tied the game heading to the late innings
-After the Macs were unable to score in their half of the fourth, Salisbury took the lead on an RBI single off freshman
Renee DeAngelis, but she wiggled out of a bases loaded jam to keep the deficit at 4-3
-In the bottom of the fifth, Carter doubled to lead off the inning, and sophomore
Ashley Rey doubled her in to tie the game at 4-4. Bartow then singled home Rey with one out to put the Macs back in front, 5-4
-The Sea Gulls tied it up in the top of the sixth with a two-out single and the score held to the final at bat for the Macs in the seventh
-The Macs loaded the bases with nobody out, but Rey was cut down at the plate on a fielder's choice. However, the Macs weren't going to be denied as Bormann singled to score Hindle with the game-winning run

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Bischoff got the start in the circle after picking up the win in relief of game one, but the Sea Gulls were ready for her as they scored a run in the first and added three more in the third which put them up 4-0 and chased Bischoff for Bormann through three innings
-The Mighty Mac offense showed some life in the fourth as sophomore
Emily Mesey singled in Hindle, and sophomore
Kayla Sponsel grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Bartow to make it 4-2 through four innings
-Bormann steadied things in the circle for IU, keeping the Sea Gull offense in check, and the Macs picked up another run in the top of the sixth with an RBI double by Bartow to make it 4-3
-However, the Sea Gulls picked up a key insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the 5-3 win
