IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's basketball team used a stifling defensive effort on Monday night as they cruised to a 71-37 victory over the visiting Clarks Summit University Defenders (1-20, 0-14 CSAC) in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play. The Macs (12-9) forced 22 turnovers and held Clarks Summit to just 10 made field goals and a shooting percentage of 23.3%. With the win, the Macs now sit one game behind fourth place Rosemont with an 8-6 conference mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Both teams struggled offensively from the start as the game was tied 4-4 over the opening five minutes
-The Macs then touched off an 18-5 run over the next nearly 10 minutes to create an insurmountable lead

Matt Krewson and Piekarski each drilled triples to build the 13-point advantage at 22-9
-The Mighty Macs closed the half with a 26-12 lead as their defense led the way
-The Mighty Macs raced out with the first six points in the half to run the lead up to 20 points after two buckets by Piekarski and a jumper by sophomore

-The lead grew to 25 points three minutes later on a triple by Kitchen
-Still leading by 21 points at 47-26 with 10:14 remaining, Powell-Young checked into the game and scored 13 points over the final 10 minutes of the contest as the Macs finished off their 71-37 victory

-The Macs were 27-for-70 (38.6%) from the field while the Defenders were just 10-of-43 (23.3%)
-Both teams struggled from deep as the Macs were 4-for-25 (16%) and CSU was 3-for-22 (13.6%)
-The Mighty Macs had a huge advantage on the glass with 49 rebounds to just 28 for the Defenders
-The Macs turned it over 10 times to 22 for Clarks Summit
