Macs Upended In Season Opener To Arcadia

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team (0-1) opened their 2018 schedule on Tuesday afternoon with a home game against Arcadia (1-1), and after a tight battle early, the Knights went on a late first half run to take control of the game and deal IU a 17-4 defeat.
 
Sophomore Layne Kennedy had three points on two goals and one assist, while senior Nicole Dominick had one goal and one assist.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights struck first in the opening minutes as they scored twice with less than two minutes gone to take a 2-0 advantage
-They added goals in the 11th and 14th minutes to extend the lead to 4-0, but the Macs had their chances early and were unable to convert
-Arcadia then ripped off four more in a row over the next nine minutes to take an 8-0 lead
-Dominick scored on a free position attempt for the first IU goal of the year, but Arcadia added two more before the half to make it 10-1
-The Macs had the first goal of the second half on a Kennedy tally, but the Knights responded with three more of their own to make it 12-2
-Kennedy would score once more and senior Hannah Verrecchia got on the board before the final whistle
 
TEAM COMPARISON
-The Knights outshot the Macs, 31-12, and had 24 turnovers to 28 for the Macs
-Arcadia was 14-for-18 on their clear attempts, the Macs were 10-of-17
