Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

First Half Run Too Much To Overcome In Season Ending Loss

SCRANTON, Pa.- The Immaculata men's basketball team (13-12, 9-9 CSAC) travelled to Marywood (15-10, 10-8 CSAC) on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale with a chance to advance to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs with a victory, but the Macs were undone by a 22-2 first half run by the Pacers and fell, 84-63.  The Macs finished the season tied for the final playoff spot with Keystone, but lost out on a tiebreaker due to a season sweep by the Giants.

Seniors Will Chapman and Matt Krewson each scored 14 points in the final games of their careers to lead the squad, and sophomore Jordan Ambrose scored 10 points with eight boards.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs started well as Mike Piekarski scored the first five and Josh Singleton scored a bucket to put the Macs up 7-3, but Marywood tied it 7-7
-Down 10-7, Chapman buried a three pointer to tie the game at 10-10
-The game would be tied four times in the opening minutes, and with it tied 16-16, freshman Brandon McCullough buried back-to-back triples to give the Macs their biggest lead at 22-16 midway through the half
-That's when Marywood went on their decisive run, holding the Macs without a field goal over a 10:49 stretch and finishing the half on a 22-2 run.  IU's only points came on a pair of free throws by Piekarski at the 2:31 mark and the Pacers took a 38-24 lead into the locker room
-The Mighty Macs got the first bucket of the second half on a jumper by Krewson, but Marywood kept them at arms' length, only allowing them to get as close as 11 at 49-38 with 15:50 remaining on a triple by Chapman
-Marywood went on a 12-2 run when the Macs got that close and pulled away to deal the Macs a season-ending defeat
