Mighty Macs Drop Atlantic East Opener At Wesley

DOVER, Del.- The Immaculata men's basketball team played their first game in Atlantic East Conference competition on Saturday afternoon at Wesley, and trailing by two at the half, the Macs (2-7, 0-1) were outscored 43-26 after the break and fell, 71-52.
 
Senior Mike Piekarski led the way with 12 points while junior Jordan Ambrose and sophomore Asa Kitchen each had 10
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs were outstanding out of the gates, scoring the game's first seven points, paced by three's from Ambrose and Piekarski, and led 12-2 after a layup by Piekarski just over three minutes into the game
-IU continued to lead, with their advantage between four and seven points for most of the half until Wesley tied it at 22-22 with 6:55 to go before the break
-Wesley scored the next bucket to take the lead and held a 28-26 edge at halftime
-The lead was still at two just over three minutes into the second half, but four minutes later, the advantage was at 13, and IU never had the deficit in single digits the rest of the way
 
TEAM COMPARISON
-The Mighty Macs struggled from the field as they were 17-of-65, including 5-for-22 from the three point line and 13-for-24 from the line
-The Wolverines were 25-for-71 from the field, 8-of-26 from three and 13-for-19 from the line
-Wesley held a 60-45 rebounding advantage
