Albright Snaps Mighty Macs' Early Season Streak

IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's basketball team was unable to extend its early-season win streak to three Tuesday night at Alumnae Hall, falling to visiting Albright, 56-44. Natalie Ayoub and Theresa Kearney paced the Mighty Macs offensively with 11 points apiece, while Amber Ballinger pitched in seven points and six steals in the non-conference matchup.

The Macs fall to 2-3 on the season with the result.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs and Lions both got off to quick starts in the first quarter, as Kearney netted seven of IU's 11 points in the opening ten minutes to keep the Lions within distance at an 18-11 deficit.
-Both sides came to a half offensively in the second quarter, as the Macs shot just 1-for10 from the field but limited Albright to just seven points as Immaculata went into the break down 25-13.
-Annie Kohutka came through for the Macs with a pair of threes in the third quarter, but the Macs were unable to keep pace with Albright's offensive attack as the Lions stretched their lead out to a game-high 17 with ten minutes remaining.
-The Macs battled back with a 10-3 run spanning over six minutes to start the fourth quarter - led by six Ayoub points - and cutting the deficit to ten in the process. However, Immaculata was unable to get any closer in the final three minutes, falling 56-44.

-Albright outrebounded the Macs, 45-16.
-The Macs forced the Lions into 22 turnovers and logged 16 steals.
-The Lions had 14 points come from off the bench, opposite the Macs' six.
