BRYN ATHYN, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team (1-2) dominated Bryn Athyn (0-1) in the first half to the tune of 51-16 en route to the Mighty Macs' first victory of the season, 71-46. The Macs were paced by an outstanding night by senior
Amber Ballinger who scored 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting overall and 5-for-5 from deep and a career-best eight steals.

Natalie Ayoub (5 boards) and
Theresa Kearney (7 boards) each added 12 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Mighty Macs wasted no time getting going as they scored the first nine points of the game and didn't allow any points until 3:29 into the contest. Ayoub knocked down a pair of jumpers, and a three pointer by sophomore
Shannon Kelly and bucket by junior
Annie Kohutka provided the early spark
-IU then scored 12 of the next 16 boys to run their lead up to 17 points at 21-4 with 3:06 to go in the first, fueled by a pair of triples by Ballinger, and IU finished up the first up by 20 at 27-7
-The Lions scored the first two points, but IU responded with the next eight on another three by Ballinger and a traditional three-point play by Kearney to make it 35-9
-Still leading by 26 at 39-13, IU finished the half on a 12-2 spurt to put the game firmly in hand at the half. Ballinger scored seven of the points to finish off an outstanding half with IU in front 51-16
-The Macs ran their lead up to 38 points and it held there to finish off the third at 65-27
-Bryn Athyn played their best quarter to finish out the game outscoring IU, 19-6 in the final period, but the Macs comfortably finished off the victory
TEAM COMPARISON
-The Mighty Macs were 28-for-63 (44.4%) from the field overall including 19-for-34 in the first half while Bryn Athyn was 17-for-57 (29.8%) in the game
-Bryn Athyn attempted just six three pointers and connected on three while the Macs were 6-of-17 (35.5%) including 5-for-7 in the opening 20 minutes
