CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Immaculata University women's volleyball team fell behind early to Washington (Md.) in its final non-conference road match Tuesday night, falling to the Shorewomen 3-0.
Shelby Belk led the Mighty Macs with seven kills in the match, while
Olivia Zdradzinski posted a team-high 11 digs.
Madi Curley led the Macs with ten assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs fell behind early in the opening set, 5-1, and eventually used their first timeout once the deficit reached six (11-5). IU got within four at 20-16 with an 8-3 run, culminating in two-consecutive points on Curley services. Washington responded by taking five of the final six points of the set to take the opener, 25-16.
-The Shorewomen raced out to a seven-point lead in the second set, and later paired it with a 9-0 run to secure the second set, 25-9.
-The Macs hung tough with the Shorewomen in the final set of the night, as Curley and
Jade Rindock recorded kills in the early going to keep pace. IU closed the deficit to three (14-11) on a Belk kill assisted by Curley, but that is the closest the Macs would get as Washington took the set, 25-19.
