IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata women's basketball team struggled to overcome 25 turnovers against an efficient Neumann offensive attack Wednesday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action, falling 79-51.
Theresa Kearney led a trio of Macs in double figures on the night with 13, followed by 11 and ten from
Annie Kohutka and
Dia Veneziano, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Macs were down early to a sharp-shooting Neumann squad, falling behind by double figures by the end of the first quarter.
-IU continued to battle back against the Knights' offensive attack, as Kohutka and
Amber Ballinger each finished the half with six points each to lead the Macs.
-The Macs came out of the half strong on both sides of the ball, outscoring the Knights 11-9 in the final ten minutes of the contest.
-Kearney deposited eight points in the second half to get into double figures for the seventh consecutive game.
KEY TEAM STATS
-The Macs shot 18-for-49 (36.7%) from the field, compared to the Knights' mark of 31-of-72 (43.1%).
-IU was more effiecient from the free throw line, converting on 15-of-22 attempts (68.2%) opposite Neumann's 10-of-15 (66.7%) night.
-IU scored 26 of its points in the paint, compared to Neumann's 24.
-The Macs controlled the battle on the boards, 41-35.
