IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata women's basketball team got a 20-point performance from
Theresa Kearney for the second time in the last three games Monday night against Haverford, but the Macs could not keep pace with the visiting Fords, falling 65-48. Monday night's result wraps up the Macs' non-conference slate for the season, as the remaining nine games on the schedule are all Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Haverford got out to a quick start with a 13-3 run in the first three minutes of play, which was later stretched out to a 20-8 advantage by the end of the first quarter.
-
Theresa Kearney hit threes on consecutive possessions to begin the second quarter to cut the deficit to nine, but the Fords began to pull away and ended the half with a double digit lead.
-The Macs came out of the break poised to get back in it with a 7-0 run to start the third quarter on five points from Kearney and a pair from
Annie Kohutka. IU would go on to outscore the Fords in third, 19-13, as the deficit continued to shrink.
-Kohutka ended up scoring all nine of her points in the second half on 3-of-9 shooting, including one from beyond the arc. Overall, the Macs shot 11-of-20 (55.0%) in the final 20 minutes of regulation.
-Despite outscoring the Fords in both of the final two periods, the deficit loomed too large for the Macs to complete a comeback in the final non-conference tilt of the season.
