Noel Breaks Goal Scoring Record In 3-1 Win

Box Score

BRYN ATHYN, Pa.- The Mighty Mac men's soccer team (2-4-1) won their second consecutive game and remained unbeaten in their last three with a 3-1 road non-conference victory over Bryn Athyn (2-2) on Wednesday night.

In the win, junior Alex Noel became the school's all-time leader in goals scored with two tonight giving him 24 for his career.  Noel became the school's leader in points scored in a career last week as well.  Freshman Alex Potter scored the other goal, his second straight game with a goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Mighty Macs executed a free kick beautifully in the 19th minute as senior Ben Gialloreto took the free kick and sent a pass from the left side of the box to Noel cutting toward the cage and he put it into the left side of the cage for the 23rd goal of his career to break the program record
-Just over three minutes later, it was Noel again as junior Mark Staudenmayer dribbled through the defense and passed to Noel who buried one off the right post for his sixth tally of the season
-The score would be 2-0 entering the second half when junior Mohamed Kamara hit a centering pass to the top of the box and Potter drilled one into the top right corner of the net for a commanding 3-0 lead
-Bryn Athyn got on the board in the 56th minute to make it 3-1, but that was as close as they would get
-The goal allowed by the Macs was first since the team's loss against Hood on Saturday, September 9th

WHAT THEY SAID
Head Coach Joe Clementi said: "We executed perfectly on our first goal of the game which really allowed us to settle in and play with the lead.  We had some great finishes by Noel and Potter, and our sound defensive play was key.  We have played well for the last three games and continue to get positive results, so we hope to continue the same on Saturday against Alvernia."

UP NEXT
The Mighty Macs will play their final non-conference game of the season against Alvernia at DWS at 1 p.m.
