IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's tennis team clinched a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoff berth with its 5-4 victory against Neumann University Tuesday afternoon on a senior day.
 
It marks a return to the postseason for the Mighty Macs for the first time since the 2013 season. Immaculata improved to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the CSAC with the win. Neumann is 4-4, 4-2 CSAC.
 
Immaculata took a 2-1 lead following doubles play by winning at the second and third positions. IU's second doubles tandem of Stephen Smith and John Binner defeated Zac Lazzaro and Jordan Collins, 8-4, and Immaculata's third doubles pair of Ryan McDowell and Luke Santoni were also 8-4 winner against Andrew Wilbraham and Sane Galante.
 
McDowell was the first win in singles action for the Mighty Macs as he defeated Rod Bradbury, 6-1, 6-2, at fourth singles. Michael Griffin III gave Immaculata its fourth point of the match with his 6-2, 6-4 win at third singles opposite Wilbraham. Santoni had the deciding point for the Mighty Macs as he won 6-3, 6-4 against Galante at sixth singles.
 
Both Binner (fifth singles) and Dom Ramsden (second singles) went to a third-set tie-breaker, but Neumann was able to pull out both of those matches.
 
Immaculata travels to Penn State Berks on Monday, April 17, at 3:30 p.m.
