GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Immaculata University volleyball capped the 2017 regular season on Wednesday night sweeping Gwynedd Mercy University, 3-0, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match. The Mighty Macs claimed the match with set scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-10.

Immaculata improved its mark to 9-11 overall and 7-4 in the CSAC, while Gwynedd Mercy dropped to 9-19, 3-8 CSAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following three-straight Gwynedd Mercy points to cut Immaculata's lead to 9-8, the Mighty Macs had a 9-3 run to push their advantage to 18-11, and Gwynedd Mercy called a timeout. The Griffins returned to the court and won the next three points to trim the Mighty Macs lead to 18-14, but Immaculata continued to outscore Gwynedd Mercy for the win.
- Gwynedd Mercy came out in the second set jumping ahead, 6-1. The Griffins held an 8-5 lead when the Mighty Macs capitalized on two Gwynedd Mercy errors and a kill from
Rachael Rockefeller to even the score at 8-8. Gwynedd Mercy would pull ahead but Immaculata answered right back and the set was even at 10-all. The Mighty Macs' 10th point of the set started a five-run spurt that handed the visitors a 14-10 advantage.
Olivia Zdradzinski contributed two kills, and
Sara Desmond had one service aces during the run. Immaculata maintained its four-point edge (16-12) when it had a four-point run started by a kill from
Shelby Belk to push its lead to 20-12. The Mighty Macs closed the set out 25-16.
- The third set began with a 7-0 run for the Mighty Macs with four points coming on kills and three on Desmond service aces. Â Desmond, Belk,
Gabrielle Guerrera and
Arden Vizzard all had one kill in the spurt. Immaculata maintained its lead, and two Gwynedd Mercy points cut the margin to 18-9. The Mighty Macs answered with a six-point run to get to match point, 24-9.
Nicole Taylor had two kills, Belk had one kill, and Zdradzinski had one ace for four of the points in the run. Following Gwynedd Mercy scoring one point, Guerrera closed the match with a kill for Immaculata.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Kills:
Arden Vizzard led the team with nine kills.
Nicole Taylor added seven, and
Gabrielle Guerrera and
Shelby Belk each had six kills
- Hitting Percentage: Taylor had a team-best .583 hitting percentage as she had seven kills and no errors on 12 attacks. Belk hit .455 for the match with six kills and one error on 11 attacks.
- Assists:
Olivia Zdradzinski handed out 21 assists.
- Service Aces:
Sara Desmond served up a team-leading five aces.
- Blocks:
Rachael Rockefeller had a team-high two total blocks, one solo and one assisted. Â
- Digs: Vizzard amassed a team-high 16 digs.
Lex Poss had nine, Zdradzinski recorded eight, and
Olivia Carter made seven digs.

- Immaculata, which has earned its fourth-straight berth into the CSAC Tournament, awaits its tournament seeding. The Mighty Macs will be on the road for the CSAC quarterfinals which begin Tuesday, October 31.
