IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's volleyball team dropped a five-set match to Widener University on Thursday night in the Mighty Macs final home non-conference match of the season. Immaculata (7-8) won the first and third sets, but it was Widener (7-17) who pulled the match out, 24-26, 25-17, 21-25, 25-20, and 17-15.

Arden Vizzard led Immaculata with a match high in both kills (21) and digs (24).
Olivia Zdradzinski handed out 35 assists for the Mighty Macs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Immaculata had the early 4-2 lead before Widener won six-straight points for the 8-4 Pride advantage. Widener continued to hold the lead at 17-14 when Immaculata got the side-out on a Pride service error and followed with a service ace by Vizzard and kills from
Gabrielle Guerrera and Zdradzinski to reclaim the 18-17 edge. The set then went back-and-forth with the Pride winning two points and the Mighty Macs earning a point. Widener led, 23-21, before two kills by
Shelby Belk and one kill from Vizzard gave Immaculata set point, 24-23. The Pride evened the score at 24-all, but kills from Vizzard and
Rachael Rockefeller sealed the first-set win.
- The Mighty Macs held the lead at the beginning of the second set, 6-5, but three-straight points by the Pride swung the advantage in their favor, 8-6, and they kept the lead. Immaculata trailed by two (14-12) but a 6-2 Widener spurt put the match out of reach.
- It was a close third set in the beginning as Widener held its first lead at the 8-7 mark. Immaculata forced three Widener errors and used kills from Guerrera and Zdradzinski to get to 12-8 in favor of the Mighty Macs, but the Pride quickly responded to tie the set at 12-all. Widener had a 19-16 lead as Immaculata won four-straight points to reclaim the lead, 20-19. The four-point run started a 9-2 spurt to close out the set for the Mighty Macs, 25-21.
- Widener had the lead in the early portion of the fourth set, and Immaculata did not take its first lead until the 14-13 mark as Vizzard and Rockefeller each contributed two kills in a four-point run for the Mighty Macs. The Pride came back winning the next four points, and upped their lead to 21-16. Immaculata cut the score to 23-20, but Widener's attackers won the match at 25-20.
- Immaculata won the first two points of the fifth set, and held the advantage until Widener evened the score at 7-7. After being all tied at 8-8, the Mighty Macs had a 5-1 run that put them in front, 13-9. The Pride chipped away with two points, and then the Mighty Macs got the side-out to get to match point, 14-11. However, Widener took the next four points to swing match point in favor of the Pride. Immaculata tied the set at 15-15 with a kill by Vizzard, but Widener won the next two points for the match.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Kills: Vizzard led two Mighty Macs in double digits with 21 kills. Guerrera finished the match with 13. Both Belk and Zdradzinski added nine kills.
- Assists: Zdradzinski handed out 35 assists, and
Lex Poss made 19 assists.
- Blocks: Belk made three block assists, and
Nicole Taylor got in on two blocks
- Digs: Vizzard had a team-leading 24 digs, while
Sara Desmond recorded 20 digs. Poss had 16 digs, and
Madi Curley registered 12.
