DOYLESTOWN, Pa.- After a week off from their season-opening victory over Keystone last week, the Immaculata women's tennis team moved to 2-0 with a 7-2 non-conference victory over Delaware Valley. The Mighty Macs last started 2-0 in 2014.
IU did their heavy lifting in the doubles portion where they swept all three from the Aggies to take a commanding 3-0 lead into singles play.
At first doubles, senior
Lauren Degnan and junior
Kelly Gross won 8-3, and senior
Annaliese Kambouroglos and sophomore
Caitlin Savage won by the same score in second doubles. At third doubles, freshman
Susan Callahan and sophomore
Claire Stimson got another victory by a score of 8-4.
At singles, the top three players won in straight sets to clinch the victory for the Mighty Macs. Degnan won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles, Gross won 6-2, 6-3 at second singles, and Kambouroglos cruised 6-0, 6-0 in the third singles to give each of them two wins on the day.
Savage picked up the final point of the day for the Mighty Macs at fifth singles by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
The Mighty Macs will return home on Saturday for a non-conference matchup with Rutgers-Camden at 1 p.m.
