ROSEMONT, Pa.- The Immaculata men's tennis team (4-8, 3-4 CSAC) wrapped up their 2016 regular season in fine fashion on Monday afternoon as they dominated Rosemont (0-11, 0-6 CSAC) in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action, 9-0.
Â
The Mighty Macs still have slim playoff hopes and will be watching the Cabrini/Neumann men's tennis match tomorrow. If Cabrini defeats Neumann by a score of 8-1, 7-2, or 6-3, the Mighty Macs will advance to the CSAC postseason as the number four seed for the first time since 2013. If any other result occurs, the Macs season will be over.
Â
The Mighty Macs won all three doubles matches easily by scores of 8-1. Sophomore
Patrick Tierno and junior
Michael Griffin III at first, junior
Stephen Smith and junior
John Binner at second, and junior
Mark Hueber and freshman
Dom Ramsden at third position all cruised to the win.
Â
Every player then made it a two-win day as they all won in straight sets without the opponent winning more than three games in any match. Tierno won 6-1, 6-1 at the first position and Smith was dominant winning 6-0, 6-0 at second singles.
Â
Ramsden won 6-1, 6-2 at third singles and Binner won 6-3, 6-0 at the four spot. Hueber topped his opponent 6-3, 6-0 in fifth singles, and Griffin III made it a clean sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph in sixth singles.
Â
The Macs will now await their fate based on the result of the Neumann/Cabrini result.
